Intermediate Hill Myna, Basel Zoo

The EAZA Ex-situ Programme (EEP) aims at improving the reproductive output of the Intermediate Hill Myna (Gracula religiosa intermedia) and the Common Hill Myna (Gracula religiosa religiosa) and in the process generate knowledge for consistent breeding success to support in-region conservation breeding projects for the globally threatened Nias Hill Myna (Gracula robusta) and Tenggara Hill Myna (Gracula venerata).

The purposes of the EAZA Hill Myna EEP are:

1, Education – awareness about unsustainable trade, Asian Songbird Crisis.

2, Research – Husbandry knowledge, dietary issues, mate choice.

3, Conservation support – generate funding in situ conservation projects for Gracula spp.
